The Transforming Power of Self-Awareness
Take this simple assessment to find out how self aware you really are.
High level of self awareness
Congratulations! You are consistently practicing a high level of self-observation and making mid course corrections in your personal, relational and professional life that are enabling you to enjoy the optimum freedom and fulfillment that contributes to a healthy soul. You are now ready to learn how to help others grow in their self-awareness.
Average level of self awareness
There are definitely times you get glimpses of the benefits of greater self- awareness. However, you lack the consistency and tools you need to regularly experience the personal, relational and professional breakthroughs you have desired.
Low level of self awareness
It appears you may benefit from a healthier understanding of how your thoughts and feelings are driving your behavior. You may be experiencing unnecessary suffering in your personal, relational or professional world. You have nowhere to go but up!
I am in touch with my emotions
I am able to name all the emotions I’m feeling
My feelings have no affect on my performance
I am able to control my emotions
I handle negative emotions in a positive way
I know what ticks me off
I am aware when there is tension or pain in my body
I am aware when there is ease or lightness in my body
I know what has triggered me after something has happened
I am able to identify what triggers me and change my negative reaction within minutes
When I get angry I am able to identify what the trigger was and to calm myself
I listen when others tell me things about myself I’d rather not hear
I am able to determine which of my thoughts is most affecting my emotions
I know why I do things that sabotage my relationships or myself
I am aware of the presence of God with me
I am aware of the specific tendencies and triggers of my “dark side”
I know exactly what my blind spots are
I regularly invite trusted people to help me see my blind spots
What I say matches what I do
I am aware when my ego is trying to diminish or exaggerate who I actually am
I am aware when my ego is comparing itself to others
I am able to self-correct when I become aware of thoughts that are about to make me suffer
I regularly take 4-5 deep, prayerful breaths, as a means to wake up and bring my awareness back to my immediate experience.
I know how to use my “inner witness” to observe what I’m feeling, thinking, or doing with compassion, as opposed to being self-critical.
In the midst of a difficulty I ask myself the question, “Is what I’m believing right now really true?”
